Gather with us the week before Shavuot to explore our past, present, and future through meditation. We'll learn, meditate, and discuss the meaningful themes and rituals around this holiday of divine revelation.
Shavuot is a harvest holiday. Like a farmer in the fields, the ancient Israelites were cultivating and growing in preparation for revelation. Shavuot invites us to take stock of what we are harvesting in our own lives. The word Shavuot, usually translated as "weeks," can also be translated as "oaths." Now is the perfect time to think about what new commitments we want to make to our loved ones, our community, and ourselves. Join us to get deep with these themes through guided meditation, put pen to paper for a writing meditation, and share in some delicious snacks with neighbors, friends and strangers alike.
This workshop will be led by Alison Laichter - a meditation teacher, consultant, urban planner, community organizer, and frequent guest of NuRoots. She has taught classes and retreats throughout the world, and founded and directed the Jewish Meditation Center (JMC) in New York City, the first ever grassroots and community-led Jewish meditation center.
Event is free to everyone, but space is limited! Snacks and water provided.
Clear your calendar - It's going down! You're invited to take part in the festivities. Come one, come all, bring a guest, and hang loose. This is going to be epic!
